Bowvayne
Taylor
Amber: Time Agent is
the first book in the TAYLOR AMBER: TIME AGENT books series. A real
page-turner, just perfect for summer reading, it re-introduces him to us,
(after not having written a new novel since last decade), the major
fantastical and comic talent that is Bowvayne.
By
the age of nineteen, he had "two Christian names and four surnames". A
meeting with Donovan opened his mind to Celtic tradition and myth, resulting
in him changing his name to Bowvayne or "Bow". Donovan also encouraged Bow to
create, as did Kate Bush.
This
creativity has taken a number of forms: from writing fiction to rock music;
from presenting TV shows to "Mythbusting". Yes, Mythbusting. Indeed, Bowvayne
first hit the headlines with his famous Mythbusters, which appeared both on
television and in a series of bestselling books. He and his intrepid team of
Mythbusters investigated mysteries all over the world, including monsters,
UFOs, ghosts and buried treasure. In England, they saw the Beast of Bodmin
Moor, in Java they discovered a human vampire, and in India a terrifying
haunted building.
His
next successful children's book series, The Misadventures of Danny Cloke,
the original two titles (A Turn in the Grave and A Spell Behind
Bars) had significant success around the world, including the UK and the
US and were translated into several different languages. It was even picked
up by BBC TV's CBBC for development into a full television series.
Unfortunately, it was eventually 'shelved' but plans are underway to see
Danny Cloke and friends (and enemies!) in a TV or film medium soon. And in
'Breaking News', he has now completed the third title in the books series - A
Twist in the Tail.
Born
in England, Bowvayne (whom everyone calls 'Bow') now spends most of his time
in the USA. He has also lived in Australia, Spain, Germany and Singapore,
where he visited hundreds of schools, encouraging children to write
creatively. Indeed, in Singapore he holds the record for the most sales of a
children's book at a single signing session.
For
years Bow worked on his epic project, The Mark of Gold Light, a
concept album with narrated pieces between each song. Some of the actors who
perform these pieces are very well-known: Julian Glover (Indiana Jones,
James Bond, Star Wars), Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous),
David Tennant (Doctor Who; title role) and Philip Glenister (Life
on Mars, Ashes to Ashes), among others. The album was mastered at
the world-famous Abbey Road Studios. Set in a magical world, it is filled
with faerelvens, goblin-like yrrchs and other fantastical creatures. Bow
wrote the libretto, songs, is the lead singer on it, co-producer and one of
the character voices he performs is that of James Bowman, the hero of the
piece. The Mark of Gold Light is now complete.
In
his spare time (!) Bow has gained a reputation as an animal rescuer. Wherever
he is in the world he'll normally be found trying to help out an abandoned
animal, a pet or wild creature in distress. He's gathered many stories about
these madcap exploits and is writing a US situation comedy series based on
them.
He's
also working very hard on the Taylor Amber sequel, entitled Taylor Amber:
Time Agent - The Evil Eye.
Whatever
he is writing that day, and whatever world he is visiting inside his mind,
from his desk he can watch the bejewelled hummingbirds and glowing fireflies
flitting about and dancing in the woods. A friendly raccoon called Bandit
visits him every night.

TAYLOR AMBER: TIME AGENT
Overnight Taylor Amber’s life is transformed when his parents die under mysterious circumstances and he becomes an orphan in the Diggory Home for Children in Distress. Taylor eventually befriends another Diggory long-termer, a spiky misfit of a girl called Georgie Yates.
But soon afterwards Taylor discovers an incredible secret: his physicist parents had not been working at the local university as he had always assumed. They were in fact head scientists for a secret organisation called TARGET (Time Agency Response Group: Earthly Threats),and on the day of their deaths they were about to embark on the maiden flight in BULLSEYE, the world’s first time machine.
With BULLSEYE at his disposal, Taylor quickly realises that he has the power to rescue his parents from their fate and bring them back from the dead. But unknown to Taylor and Georgie, there is a deadly menace that is about to threaten the entire world ...
taylor amber: time agent is a riveting, suspenseful time travel adventure; a bittersweet tale of a teenage boy–girl relationship; a metaphysical thriller on the implications of messing with the fabric of spacetime, and a genuinely moving story of two young people’s shared experience of loss. It is also at times, very funny, with a huge cast of richly imaginative characters from both ends of the time spectrum, from the deep past to a terrifying future ...
The novel crawls with suspicious agents, police, boffins – few of them being what they claim to be, and several sets of enemies.
In the scary worlds of Earth and Deep Space, the only person Taylor can trust is Georgie.
